Keen to get some discussions going in this section.

Does anyone here play secondary sports that are reasonably compatible with hockey? E.g. good for recovery after matches/training without being too high impact..

I know quite a few cyclists that also play hockey, but keen to get some other opinions on this too.

Its very common in New Zealand to have cricket in the summer hockey in the winter, A lot of people also throw tennis into the mix.

Very similar here in the UK! A lot of hockey clubs are closely tied with crickets clubs here, so naturally some members tend to play both. Tennis is an interesting one though, will have to dust off the racket 🎾

Here our outdoor season is pretty short, so pretty much the whole club moves into indoor hockey during the winter ( -20 happening over here) but lots of players also play ringette, floor ball or ice hockey when they are not involved with field hockey. me personally i just hockey all year moving between field and indoor.
Although back when i lived in Australia i used to play netball along side hockey.

As above we are cricket and tennis alongside hockey although unlike the 'old' days the seasons tend to overlap a lot more now than they used to. Not sure how good they are for recovery in between hockey though, but maybe use some slightly different muscle groups for certain skills

I thought that swimming and cycling were good- keeping muscles going without the strain on joints. Lots of people who balance cricket and hockey. some who do mountain biking, some do athletics.
