Best shoes that don't break the bank?

Hi all,

My current shoes are just about holding on (Adidas). Not sure of the model but have had them since 2019.

Any recommendations on a good pair of astros with great grip? Ideally looking to spend less than £100

Agreed, trail running shoes are usually very good. Salomon and Asics are good brands to look into for these!

I'm a fan of Saucony Peregrine trail shoes - have used them for my last three pairs of hockey shoes. Very, very good grip on astro, relatively lightweight - but you probably don't get quite the same toe box protection as you do with a heavier trail shoe or dedicated hockey shoe.

That's the one thing stopping me from using most trail shoes. As a defender, the toe protection has become rather important!

Adidas Divox have always done alright for me. Not a lot of protection, but they're cheapeast and have decent grip

If you're in the UK, you can get the Osaka ones for about 65 quid, about half price. Only played in them once so far, but outstanding shoes. Loads of protection and grip and still lightweight. Longevity unknown, obviously. Heartily recommend though so far.

I second the Osaka recommendation, I have been wearing a pair for about a year (on and off as I have done some other shoe reviews as well) and they are fantastic

How is the fit on the Osaka compared to say Adidas/Salomon/New Balance etc? Impossible to tell what size I would be!

osaka are a bit narrower then adidas lux, never worn solomans to compare thought sorry

Often go for adidas. The end of season sale is always a great time to get some on their website. Previous seasons colours are reduced a lot in price. Also, if you are an adiclub member, and connect your smartwatch to it, you get points for each km you run. Points so rack up which can be redeemed against discount codes.
